The wonder of giving comes in many forms. At Macy’s, we’ve brought this to life, partnering with Make-A-Wish for our annual Believe campaign for the past 12 years to help make wishes come true across the country for children with critical illnesses. Meet our wish kid Brantley, whose wish was to go to Colorado to build a snowman and who loves airplanes. The surprise we delivered to him on Macy’s Wish Wednesday captured the hearts of all who were able to witness his joy.
The day started at 9:30 a.m. To keep the wish reveal secret, Brantley's wish granter told him that her friends at the airport had arranged a tour for him. An excited Brantley arrived at Southwest Airlines Training Center, where he met Santa and his elves, Sprinkles and Spritz. They became instant best friends, and took Brantley to the Navigation Operations Center to track Santa's flight around the world.
The fun continued at the airport, where Santa surprised Brantley once again, now at the departure gate, with news that Brantley and his family would fly to Colorado and that Santa would join them to build a snowman. After boarding the plane, Brantley met the pilots and sat in the cockpit before taking his seat. Passengers aboard that flight each received $100 Macy's gift cards and wrote letters to Santa as part of the Believe campaign, helping raise money for Make-A-Wish to grant more wishes like Brantley’s.
Passengers exiting the plane remarked, “I now have a new favorite charity," and “I'm a Macy's platinum cardholder and will make sure my friends know all you did today." There were not a lot of dry eyes on the plane after witnessing the pure joy of Brantley.
The fun didn’t stop there. The Macy’s Colorado District team surprised Brantley at baggage claim with presents including a snowsuit and kit to help him build his snowman.
