Macy’s Honors Associate Military Service, Provides Career Opportunities for Veterans

Every November, Americans across the country pause to recognize past and present military service members who have sacrificed to protect our way of life.

Macy’s, Inc. honors the service of its associates who have served, or are currently serving in the military through an online Military Honor Roll. Created in 2003, the honor roll allows Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s associates to enter information about their own active duty service or that of a friend or family member. It also allows associates to search by business function so they can thank veterans at their location for their service.

Share your pride! Please consider adding your name or the name of a loved one to our Military Honor Roll.

Macy’s also provides career opportunities to returning service members. In addition to hiring more than 4,000 veterans last year, the company also has helped prepare 79 veterans for management positions through its Military Executive Development Program (MEDP) since its launch in 2012. Macy’s invests nine to 12 months into training these natural leaders to succeed in a department store retail environment. Veterans are recruited from military base visits, veteran networking forums, and career fairs across the country.

Macy’s has been honored for its work in military hiring with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s (ESGR) Patriot Award to a Macy’s store executive in Atlanta and the annual ESGR Above and Beyond award to a Macy’s store on Guam.
