Thoughts from our President and CEO, Jeff Gennette, about our annual Got Your 6 campaign, and how we can work together as a company to support America’s veterans.
The 4th of July is a big holiday for Macy’s as we help America celebrate with the nation’s largest fireworks show. It’s also a time when we put our collective efforts behind thanking and supporting America’s veterans through our annual Got Your 6 campaign that is currently underway.
I’m so proud of the work that our Macy’s store Associates around the country are doing to raise funds for a range of support services for veterans and their families including job counseling, housing resources for the homeless and grief support for families who have lost a loved one. These programs have a real impact on the communities we serve. Over the course of our partnership with Got Your 6, Macy’s funds have helped find housing for more than 40,000 homeless veterans, provided 24,000+ hours of mental health support services, secured 500,000+ commitments to hire veterans and their spouses, and much more. I hope you’ll take the time to learn more about one very special program supported by Macy’s that provides grief counseling for children who have lost a parent in service by watching the video below.
We have a significant veteran community within the Macy’s family as well, many of them hired through the Military Executive Development Program we started in 2012. Last year alone, we hired more than 4000 veterans. You can meet some of them at Macy’s #IAM.
So, to the veterans who work at Macy’s and all of those who have served our country, on behalf of Macy’s, Inc., Thank you!
President and CEO, Macy's, Inc.
