A few weeks ago, Coast to Coast was excited to cover the first leg of a Town Hall tour Jeff Gennette began in his very first weeks as chief executive officer at Macy’s, Inc. In these meetings, Jeff discussed his vision for the future of Macy’s, the North Star Strategy, and our new brand purpose to Make Life Shine Brighter. Now we’re bringing our Coast to Coast readers the latest on the Town Hall tour, making stops in Atlanta, Mason, OH, and finally at Macy’s corporate office in New York City. You can even take a “tour” of your own with our Town Hall photo gallery!
More than 600 participants joined Jeff’s Atlanta Town Hall on April 18. RB Harrison, chief omnichannel and operations officer for Macy’s, Inc., and Brian Leinbach, executive vice president, Macy’s Technology hosted the event while Jeff met with our systems and technology teams and the RFID robot, and took a tour of the facilities. He also surprised the winners of the Macy’s Systems and Technology Make MAGIC “Six” Awards at the Atlanta Athletic Club where the winners were gathered to celebrate. Jeff shared, “The list of large-scale, high-impact projects that our MST teams have been a part of over the last year truly shows the breadth of your influence on our organization’s success. I can’t wait to see what your combined talent and passion bring as we align along our North Star Strategy.”
For the Midwest segment of Jeff’s road trip, he visited the Macy’s Credit and Customer Services team in Mason, OH. In line with other Town Hall visits, Jeff found time to speak with Associates one-on-one, getting to know them and hearing their experiences with the company. MCCS Mason had a surprise for Jeff, as well. They presented a gift basket and the local office choir performed a special song in his honor. It was a memorable visit for all.
Last but certainly not least, Jeff concluded his Town Hall tour at New York City’s corporate offices. He met with teams representing departments across the country, including Legal, Merchandising, Planning, Finance, Human Resources, Analytics, Innovation, and Omnichannel and Strategy. In fact, in just one day, Jeff spoke to more than 3,000 Associates in a marathon of Town Hall events above Macy’s flagship store. The Town Hall roadshow has ended, but the momentum continues as all of our Associates work to support the North Star Strategy while Making Life Shine Brighter for our customers and each other.
