Macy’s Own Lunar New Year Festival

This month, Macy’s is honoring one of China’s oldest traditions through fashion, celebration, and service to our communities. Feb. 16 marked the first day of the Year of the Dog, and with the spotlight on man’s best friend, we want our customers and Associates to “fetch their best year yet” during this Lunar New Year.

Learn how ATEAM, our employee resource group dedicated to empowering Associates in the Asian Pacific Islander American community, and Macy’s are celebrating the Lunar New Year.

Holiday Fashions in Store

In stores nationwide, Macy’s is offering Lunar New Year-themed products including a charming special edition satchel by Radley London, festive red lipstick from Lancôme, and a “Year of the Dog” compact by Estée Lauder.

“Lunar Festival” with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, our Associates and members of ATEAM gathered at the Barclays Center for the Nets vs. Rockets game, in partnership with National Association of Asian American Professionals NY. Before the game, members enjoyed a networking happy hour, with guest speaker Eu-Gene Sung, CFO at Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment, who oversees the finance departments for the company’s venues and teams, including Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets.

Henry Street Settlement Volunteerism

One Lunar New Year tradition is for elder family members to gift small red envelopes of money to the youngest. Because not every family has the privilege to give such gifts, ATEAM collaborated with Partners in Time to fill that gap. On Feb. 9, ATEAM and Macy’s volunteers worked in the early childhood division of Henry Street Settlement, teaching children the rich history of the Lunar New Year, leading an art project based on their learnings, and giving gifts provided by Macy’s.
