Macy’s stores around the country, including locations in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and more, celebrated our long-standing tradition of welcoming the holiday season with festive holiday window displays.
Did you know? Macy’s was the first department store to introduce the holiday window installations and we have taken great pride in this special tradition since the 1870s.
This year, our Herald Square display, titled The Perfect Gift Brings People Together, won design:retail’s 2017 Winning Windows’ top honor, Platinum, at the PAVE Gala in December. The Window Presentation team started planning for the display in January, and it took a dedicated team of 200 specialists more than 21 days and nights to install. It’s an enormous team effort – and it pays off. The Perfect Gift Brings People Together windows are viewed by 10,000 New Yorkers and visitors each hour!
San Francisco’s Union Square unveiled its Holiday Windows for the 31st year, in partnership with the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA). Each year, the festive holiday displays also include more than 300 cats and dogs looking for a new home, and also raise more than $100,000 for SF SPCA.
In other stores, such as Philadelphia’s Center City, Chicago’s Macy’s on State Street and Washington D.C.’s Metro Center, window designs paid homage to the special moments that make the holidays the best time of the year, as well as Macy’s commitment to the Believe campaign, which recently marked its 10th year.
