Thoughts from our Chairman and CEO, Jeff Gennette, about our Macy’s Salutes Those Who Serve campaign, and how we can work together as a company to support America’s veterans.
Macy’s commitment to giving back to the communities we serve is part of our DNA and, this Fourth of July, there are even more opportunities to make a difference.
As we get ready to celebrate America's birthday, let’s also take time to give thanks to the thousands who are deployed around the world protecting our freedom. In salute of our nation’s Armed Forces, Macy’s colleagues and our customers nationwide are coming together for a charitable giving campaign to support and empower veterans and military families.
The give back campaign, “Macy’s Salutes Those Who Serve” is underway now through Sunday, July 8, and will generate funds through donations in-store and online at macys.com for three organizations – Blue Star Families, Bunker Labs and Team Rubicon. These charities focus on a number of programs that support current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families by providing access to career development, caregiver support, entrepreneurship and business opportunities, skills-based volunteering and community rebuilding activities, and more. With a $3 donation, customers will receive 25 percent off on select merchandise, in which 100 percent of the donations will benefit these organizations.
It’s also a time when we help America celebrate the holiday. We’re gearing up for the 42nd annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks, the nation’s largest Independence Day celebration. Before the event begins, jumbotrons will show short videos about Blue Star Families, Bunker Labs and Team Rubicon. Each attendee will leave with a gift bundle that includes information about how to join Macy’s in supporting veterans and military families through this campaign.
The fireworks are the result of a large, cross-functional effort by a number of Macy’s teams. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what is involved in hosting this iconic event.
I’m proud of the work we’re doing in our communities and in support of military families, as well as the veterans who work at Macy’s and all of those who have served our country. Thank you for all that you do and enjoy the holiday.
